Sky News Update: It has just been released that Yahoo will be doing a deal with Sky, so that Sky News is broadcast across their platform, including shows such as Sunrise. It has just emerged that Yahoo has executed an agreement with Sky News to broadcast Sunrise, its most important morning news show, with presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Eamonn Holmes. In addition to broadcasting the Morning News Sunrise, they will also be broadcasting three new series to over 150 countries across its networks. Sunrise if the extremely popular breakfast show which is aired 7 days a week, 6 in the morning on weekdays, and 10 in the morning on weekends. Eamon Holmes has definitely contributed to the popularity of the programme with ratings being boosted as a result of his bringing over from another problem. This was the idea when Sky took him from his previous show ‘The Rivals’. Sky News already has a present settlement with Yahoo, but not on such a broad spectrum with it only currently covering Sky News Stories. Yahoo is one of the most highly visited pages and search engines in the world, so the collaboration of the two will only boost SKys accessibility to new audiences, and widen their market reach. This is exciting news for both Sky and Yahoo as both will be able to reap the benefits of what being with the other company brings. The three series which Sky will be showing will be covering topics such as business, technology and politics, with Sunrise having a special online Hub at the Yahoo News UK centre. There will be a finance programme, hosted by Ursula Errington, and Poppy Towbridge, a entrepreneurial programme, involving a number of intelligent youth inventors from the UK, as well a current affairs programme hosted by Joey Jones. Yahoo has also had another deal with ABC; one of the dominating broadcasters in the US , which came to life in 2011. This was a beneficial deal for Yahoo, as aside from their new partnership with ABC, they have no other links apart from Eurosport, which is only minimal TV coverage. Yahoo prides itself on knowing exactly what their target audience is looking for from their TV, after extensive market research, therefore believes that it can deliver exactly what its customers want in the most relevant way. In comparison to Yahoos other deals, Sky news deal with Yahoo is much more minimal, with a more limited scope on what is being presented. Other companies Sky have deals with are Facebook, outdoor billboard, VeriFone digital Network and Heathrow Express.
