Sky News Update: Sky Create App For The Ashes

application 2017

Cricket season is almost upon us once more again, and as the weather heats up, so does our desire to see the world's greatest cricketers facing off against each other in international cricket. With Joe Root now leading the England test side Sky Sports are preparing to show big games like England v South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, the West Indies and more across the summer months.

That's before November rolls around and the start of the 2017 Ashes competition. Sky have once again announced that their Ashes application for Android and iOS will be operational during the period, and their full range of TV coverage will be available - though there are rumours that the Ashes will get 4K broadcasts on Sky Q.

What follows is our original article discussing the launch of the Ashes application:

Sky news update: Sky Sports have released an app for the series between England and Australia, the Ashes Event Centre, for access to in depth information.

The Ashes is arguably the biggest event in the English and Australian cricketing calendar and this year it’s being hosted by England, both teams’ captains are entering their first Ashes series in their new roles. In addition to this, England are favourites. All of these things combined makes this a very exciting series and Sky Sports have responded with a dedicated television channel and an Ashes app.

The app, titled The Ashes Event Centre, allows viewers to pick and choose their highlights, access information about the players, look at statistics ‘til their heart’s content and watch the game as it’s happening.

“As England try to out-swing, out-catch and outrun the Aussies this summer, follow Ashes test cricket on Sky like never before.

Watch every session live on our dedicated Ashes channel, Sky Sports Ashes HD, but even better, you’ll also be able to become your own analyst with the brand new Ashes Event Centre.

The latest update for the Sky Sports for iPad app enables you to watch live ball-by-ball coverage at home or on the move. Relive each session’s key moments including wickets or boundaries, and see all the match and player stats used by the commentary team. And just like the commentators, you’ll be able to review every delivery with Hawk-Eye analysis tools built into the app.

Plus there’s an integrated social media feed to help you keep up with the Ashes buzz on Twitter, sports news and more.

The Ashes Event Centre is one of our second screen enhancements to the Sky Sports for iPad app, which also include F1® Race Control and the Premier League Match Centre, available when races or matches are live on Sky Sports.

If you have the Sports Pack, you can download the Sky Sports for iPad app, with the Ashes Event Centre, from the App Store at no extra cost. If you’re not a Sky Sports customer, you can get it for £4.99 per month through In-App purchase. This excludes access to Sky Sports 1-4 and Sky Sports F1®.

The Ashes companion is also available for Sky Sports Pack customers online at SkySports.com.”

To become a Sky customer and receive access to this app as well as the television channel, either visit the Sky.com website or contact Sky and speak with a member of their customer services department.
